Protecting wood against humidity is essential to maintain its structural integrity and aesthetics, especially in humid climates or outdoor applications. At Pacific Forest, we recommend several species of wood and specific products to ensure effective protection.
Choice of Wood
Wood species such as teak, cumaru, and garapa are naturally resistant to moisture due to their physical and chemical properties.
Teak
- Density: 650-750 kg/m³
- Durability: High (Class 1 according to EN 350-2)
- Properties: High natural oil content that repels water.
Cumaru
- Density: 1050 kg/m³
- Durability: Very high (Class 1 according to EN 350-2)
- Properties: Extremely dense wood with natural resistance to decay.
Garapa
- Density: 800-850 kg/m³
- Durability: High (Class 2 according to EN 350-2)
- Properties: Good water resistance with proper treatment.

For additional protection, we recommend using oils and sealers such as those available at Nuprotec.
